It sounds as if you have a direct deposit. If so, the payroll department can put a trace on the electronic trail of it, as you said they are doing. At max, it shouldn't take more than 1 business day to resolve.
The crux, on the business end is that they have money floating out there (if they're telling you the truth) with your name on it and have no immediate way of retrieving it. On the other hand, they have the ability to do a 'direct deposit reversal of funds' to stop it from going into your accoun (or wherever it was headed). Then they can re-issue another payment - BUT they cannot delay paying you due to their error.
Since it's the weekend, you may not get a full resolvement from the bank end until Monday.
If it it not resolved by end of business on Monday, do not accept any further excuses for delay. If the company's payroll cycle dictates that you were supposed to have gotten paid on Friday and they are unduly delaying - their mistake or not - then you have grounds to file a complaint with the Department Of Labor. |

Not much can be done over a weekend, but by this week you should have it in your account. This happened to me twice on a Friday as well, and it was there by the Monday. I hope the same for you! |

...I know this sounds like a cop-out...but thats' how it is....be patient...try to call the ppl that are waiting for payments ...and hope for their understanding......it may get real emabarassing before its all resolved good luck! |

Your contract of employment stipulates a date which you should be paid. If the employer breaches this contract and you are not paid, and you incur charges, the employer should be liable for these, i believe. Talk to HR. |

When they find the error make sure that whoever to blame, bank or employer pay the incurred charges for any monies overdrawn. Banks usually do this anyway if they at fault. Mean while could your work pay you by cheque until it sorted then you can pay them back |

It's unlawful not to pay and you can take your employer to a tribunal. Better than that contact Citizen's Advice or ACAS, they will help and tell you how to cope without the cash owed to you. |

ask your boss for your pay stub cause if it was direct deposit you should have gotten your stub the day before you would think.if you didn't get a stub than something fishey is going on.go into your bank and talk to someone. |

approach human resources officer, inform them that you are going to hold them responsible and liable for any extra charges in-cured due to there negligence. keep any receipts you get and debtors letters and any penalty's incurred by the bank |

First thing Monday morning go to your bosses office. Request your paycheck. They are obligated to pay you, tell him that. The bank that the payment was made through can CANCEL/withdraw the payment it supposedly made. Ask for them to cut you a check MONDAY so you can deposit it in your account immediately. You have bills and most likely a family to support, make that point to your boss and whomever else would be involved. |

ive worked in payroll with bacs payments so first can i ask has it been paid in before or is this the first time
a) if paid in before then it is a definite error at the bank - you need to take your payslip and a previous one with your details into the bank and they will check their 'limbo' files - this is where money goes for 3 days before being returned to the originator (ie your employer) you can show them the amount due and the date is was due and this will help find it quickly - they can then transfer the money in correctly - they will also give you and advance on the money without charge until the money has cleared correctly the following day.
b) if it is the first time - you need to go to your employer who will have received notification that there is an error and they will have a date that the money will be returned to them - in the meantime they are legally bound to pay you the amount you are due either by all cash or part cash and part cheque (this is because the cheque would clear in your bank and cover any bills you have and the cash will cover you until the cheque is cleared)
you must go to the bank it is no good phoning because they will not give you any information over the telephone and if you are there in person they will deal with it straight away - hope this helps |
