Of course it's a scam - if you won the lottery you would be receiving money, not giving money away. Also, you can't win a lottery unless you've played it first. If you give money to these people you'll be very silly, they are just criminals after your hard-earned cash, and they'll vanish off the face of the earth the minute they've got your dosh! |

That type of email is a typical "lottery scam". Do yourself a favor and block that sender, and then read up on this type of scam at just about any computer news website. These types of scams work the same way as the "Nigerian Benefactor" scam, where they claim to be trying to get you to launder money for them or someone else (they usually claim to be a lawyer). They all just want your banking information, ie your routing number and account number, so they can hack it and take everything in it at some later point. (They usually find a way of tracking how much money you have in the account, and wait until you reach a certain threshold amount and then empty it.) |
