I like to give some real cute and colorful PJ's. Maybe some slippers to go with that. Generally a person who has surgery will be living in their pajamas for a week or so, and being a woman, you know, we "LOVE" clothes. Also, a gift certificate to have her nails done, is a great gift idea too,....for when she feels up to it. This will make her feel good after she recovers. By the way, have you ever heard of a PJ telegram? A real neat gift idea! This gift is Way awe sum! For starters its packed in a beautiful wire hat box. Then you choose a set of PJ that will be packed in the hatbox. They also add bath products, some great teas, slippers, and a cute stuff animal. Its a "great" gift, I got one last year and I Loved it!!! |

offer to run errands or do chores around the house. after i had a baby, my boyfriends sister offered to do those things for me and i thought, those are wonderful things to do for someone after any surgery. i then, did the same thing for a dear friend who had a surgery recently and she thought it was great as well. little things really do mean a lot more than material things...try it! |

Since she just came out of surgery I'm sure she has to stay at the hospital awhile, make a gift basket with magazines and crosswords and a few snacks she can eat....it gets boring in a hospital even though you have TV so come up with some activities she can do...a bible to read is always a wonderful thing...I wish you both the best of luck..God bless |

Flowers are always good!! Get her some books and magazines too!!!! To have some thing to snack on--so you dont have to get up so much at first!! To tissues, baby wipes--and lotion!!! bye be blessed! |

Depending on the type of surgery, maybe try and get something that can help her during her recovery. For instance, if she's going to be in bed resting for a the next couple of days or weeks, get her a nice blanket or some new pillows. Magazines on subject matter she's interested in may be appreciated, or books she's wanted to read but hasn't had the time to catch up on.
If she likes bath products, try putting together a little gift basket with her favorite lotion goodies.

get a basket and fill it up w/ all get well items. magazines crosswords is always good if she can eat. get her little candies, a get well stuff animal, and something that would make her laugh but not too much. |

I think flowers and magazines are great. If she is allowed to eat, some of her favorite treats/candy are nice. If she's going to be in the hospital for more than a couple days, a framed photo to put in the room is also a nice touch along with a fuzzy blanket. |

if she's going to be in there for a while, does she have an ipod or personal stereo? something to keep here entertained out of visiting hours. Does she have a hobby, could it be adapted to be able to be done/reserched in the hospital? |

If she had surgery for a cosmetic reason, they maybe something that will accentuate her "new" eyes, figure or whatever. If the surgery was not cosmetic, then I suggest some really pretty fresh cut flowers. Also, if she was cut on her stomach or chest, consider a small, soft pillow. When you are cut on those areas, it hurts to sneeze or cough and holding a pillow to the incision helps alleviate the pain. Trust me, I am speaking from experience. |

Well, first come and visit her so she does not feel lonely. Bring allot of chocolate! he he. Also a cool magazine for her to read! I hope she feels better. |

There are lots of great ideas!! Favorite flowers, basket of favorite snacks, books, a pair of ultra-soft pj's or socks (I love those!!), etc.. Also, maybe chores around the house, running errands for her. When my dad had heart surgery, my mom was busy taking care of him so I cooked a week of meals and put them in heat $ eat containers for them. She loved not having to decide what to cook or cook it!! Plus I stocked the fridge with lots of juice and quick snack items for the both of them..they loved it!! |

Get them a stethascope and throw it away in front of them. Let them know that you love them know matter what the science says. Only use this if they are dying, this will give them hope to survive. you are on your own life expectancy after that. |
