3. "Wild Swans" by Jung Yang (another true story)
4. "Fine Balance" by Rohinton Mistry
5. "If You Could See Me Now" by Cecilia Ahern
6. "The Bonesetter's Daughter" by Amy Tan
7. "The Kiterunner" by Khaled Hosseini

I just read "All the King's Men" by Robert Penn Warren for the first time since high school. I forgot how good that book is!

Other good fiction: (1) "The Corrections" by Jonathan Franzen is just all-around great, (2) "David Copperfield" or "The Pickwick Papers" by Charles Dickens are light and entertaining, and (3) "Charlie and the Chocolate Factory" by Roald Dahl is imaginative like the movie but darker.

Good non-fiction: (1) "Confederates in the Attic" by Tony Horwitz is possibly the best books I've read in a long time, (2) "Baghdad Without a Map" by Tony Horwitz is a close second, and (3) "Family" by Ian Frazier is a well-written account of the author's ancestry.

Happy reading!

I personally love philosophy books. Compilations of teachings or actual works by a particular philosopher. Nietzche is my favorite.

I think J.K. Rowling's books are fabulous. If you didn't know, J.K. Rowling was the author of The Harry Potter books! Dav Pilkey is also good. But it really is your choice.

well... try J.R.R. Tolkien's books, like "The Hobbit", "The Silmarillion", "The Lord of The Rings" trilogy and anything else you can find... the books are sooo much better than the movies... and there's also Sven Hassel's books, with The Second World War as theme... this guy is a genius, he is great at weriting... adn what's most important is that most of the things he's writting there are true and really happened to him.
There's also "The Neuromancer", I forgot who wrote it though... Try Margaret Mitchell's "Gone With The Wind" - great book! Try some Ernest Hemingway... he's got the spirit of a hunter and he really puts that into his books...
you cold also try some poems and poetry - Edgar Allan Poe, William Shakespeare and whatever else you could like ;)

Where do you start....narrow it down a bit-what things are you into? fantasy, science fiction, horror, true crime...
Of course Harry Potter books are quite good, half the planet has fallen for them.
