I'm curious because I'm sixteen. I'm a waitress, so I'm making 3.50 an hour with hardly any tips because sometimes the restaurant is empty! I pay for my:
-Clothes
-Gas
-Car Insurance
-Any food that I want that my parents don't. All they eat is nachos, meat (I'm a vegatarien), and cookies. Oh and they love their soda. So that leaves me buying a lot of food =/
-I pay for social events such as going to the movies
-Soon to be paying for half of my college education.
I'm not trying to complain but did any of you have to pay for this?? If so how did you do it!? My job does not cover the necessaties (gas money and insurance). I'm basically going to work just to pay for my next ride to work. I don't spend it on junk. I try to put whatevers left over in the bank. =/

You make 3.50/h? Where the haaaiiilll do you work girl? That's way less than minimum wage. I got paid 7.40 minimum wage when I was 16, and that was just 3 years ago.
Anyway, I paid for all my clothes, make up, food, cell phone bills, tickets for the movies/concerts, I help(ed) to buy groceries just because I wanted to (I wasn't told to), and I saved the rest for my beautiful baby Jeep and books for university.
You should check into how much your work place is paying you. That doesn't sound right to me. You should be looking for a new job if that's the case.
EDIT:
3.75? That's still so little! When I worked at Denny's I got paid more than you. Then I started working at clothing stores in the mall and now I work for my university just to lower my tuition costs, plus I'm working at a Tim Hortons. My point is, even when I was a waitress, I got paid at least 50% more than you did. You obviously want to be independent, and that's a great thing! But I think you should look into a new job to support your needs. Sooner or later, you will, and you'll be happy with supporting your personal needs. It's good to start work early.

Lol, Canada isn't far from you then. I say you drive on down to Canada and work in a better paying restaurant! Hahaha. On a serious note, you will eventually upgrade your job and you'll have more money to spend. Your so young right now. Good luck! |
