throw them out. Big companies throw away food like theres no tomorrow because its not really worth any real value to them unless they are getting you to buy it. I work in a store in the food place and at the end of the night we throw away all the food that is still good its a shame but we arent even allowed to donate it. |

I heard that most stores don't give expired food to shelters because of the liability issue. If the food causes people to be sick, the shelter could sue the company that donated the food. In most cases, I think it is thrown out. |

When I worked in a grocery store we would either put them on sale or just toss them. However, most of the time the food was still good. |

Yup, they throw it away. What a waste! Although if you happen to work in a grocery store it could benifit you if the managers will let you take the outdated food (if it's still edible). |

i guess when foods expire, they take them out of their packages and throw them out...or maybe they create compost heaps.^^
They might then recycle the packages if they are paper/cardboard or plastic.
Sometimes good food is thrown out though... |

They either throw them away, discount them a week before they expire, or donate them. When it comes to meat, they'll take ribs and roasts that have browned a bit and grind it into burger. |

somtimes they do two for one sales giving it to the poor or homless and i think they can legaly still sell it if they tell you it has past expiry date |

They usually put them on sale right before the expiration date, they lose a lot of money doing that. |
