I would interpret that as meaning several different things, what's up to me is slang for hello, hi how you doing, what have you been up to, what's been going on with you, hey where you been, good to see you, how you feel, talk to me or tell me something, get to the point, etc. It all depends on your tone of voice, to whom your talking to, and the situation that you are in. Example: If you haven't seen a friend in along time you would say "what's up"! man or girl. But if your car was in the shop longer than it was suppose to be you would ask your mechanic "What's Up!" with my car getting fixed. It may not be the proper term, but most people get the gist. Although people should use judgment about it (saying what's up). Especially if there applying for a job, talking to a teacher or doctor. In those cases it wouldn't be appropriate. It's basically just another greeting. |

I don't use slang to greet others. I would guess "what's up" is a way of greeting, mainly for the youth of a society. It means, " What is going on." Or "Hello" An extended version of Hello, Hi, Good Morning, or Evening, how is life treating you? |
