Read something boring.
Listen to "elevator"-type soft easy instrumental music, very quietly.
Meditate. Especially if this is becoming an ongoing problem.
Pray! Believe it or not, there have been times when I couldn;t sleep, so I tried praying (in general, not asking for sleep). Before I knew it, I was asleep! |

well I just try to go to sleep. But if that TRULY doesn't work- try reading. it tires out your brain, and it depends on your personality too- i listen to music sometimes. GOOD LUCK! |

Eat a high carb meal for dinner at least 1 or 2 hours before you go to sleep. Also get some sun in the beginning of your day to reset your internal clock. Sex also helps. make sure the temperature in the room is comfortable. Do some easy reading nothing to stimulating like the web. |

I always pray before going to sleep. Many times I don't get a chance to close my prayer properly because I fall asleep. So after I pray and Can't fall asleep I pray again and fall asleep fast. |

There are three things that help me. I read the most boring book I can find, right now it's a dummies book on windows xp. Secondly I try to chill myself; if it's cold outside then I stand outside until I'm quite cold. Snuggling into bed and trying to get warm puts me right to sleep. Trying to sleep without covers also helps. Thirdly I eat a banana and drink a glass of milk. I don't know, it just works. Good Luck |

When I'm tired but can't sleep, I go on the computer or read.
I know sleeping pills can be addictive, but if I were you I would take them the first night, if you still can't sleep the second night, take them again, and do the same for the third night.
You need to get some sleep.
With 3 night sleep under your belt, you may be able to kick start your system into a regular sleep routine.
I'd do that every few weeks if needed.
Taking sleeping pills now and again isn't harmfull but I know and share your concern.
GOOD NIGHT! |

watch TV, pace around, or get out of your bed for that matter. Do stuff that normally makes you sleepy but not tired |

Don't watch tv or go on the computer. That will rott your brain. I don't know how the others sleep, but just dont. I would try warm milk or reading. That works, or if your scared at night or something, you could watch tv, to get over your fears, but I wouldnt. You can try folding laundry or something. |

Yes,u should not take pills for they can cause dependency.ditto for alcohol.i would recommend reading, watching t.v. music, playing around on the 'net.also try to get some exercize--but during the day; not to close to bed time.Try to give yourself any where from 15 to an hour to fall asleep; then stop trying--the harder u try the more yuo'll find u can't sleep; then try the things I suggested above.Eventually u will sleep; a body can go only so long without it. Hope I helped some. |

Only drink coffee in the morning, not in the afternoon and at night (if you drink coffee). I have trouble sleeping at night also. I try to watch T.V. or read a book and relax. Avoid doing anything stimulating in the evening like working out. You need at LEAST 6 hours of sleep at night, but 8 hours is perfect. I don't like taking sleeping pills either because I don't like the way it makes me feel and I can never get up in the morning when I take them. I used to work as student nurse in the hospital and the doctor would prescribe benodryl for patients to take at night. It's an allergy pill that has an sleeping ingredient which not as strong as a sleeping pill but it really helps you sleep. |

Well, it sounds or could possible be your mind can't shut off. Lot's of options. what works 4 u??????my kids do load music.. can't think of anything but the tunes(stops the thoughts that cause you to concentrate)... always the tried and true, beer... liquor..sleeping pills etc..but I've found learning how to focus on your dreams and fantasies as your going to sleep, my personal fave.
you get control over the sleep and dream, plus great surprises... i hope this wrks cause it's the bomb |
