You have a right not have a deduction made from your salary unless you had given your employer permission to do so (See s. 13 Employment Rights Act 1996 - which re-enacted the Wages Act 1986.
Accordingly, you now put in writing (KEEP A COPY!!!!) your DEMAND to have your wages paid to you within the next 24 hours, failing which you can (either threaten or actually do) issue proceedings at an Employment Tribunal (you can still be an employee to do this - since this is not strictly speaking unfair dismissal) that your employer has made an illegal deduction (100%) from your salary contrary to s. 13 of the Employment Protection Act 1996.

First of all, you are without, then you have to wait until the regular payday has arrived. If you still are not paid, you need to see the person that handles the check writing, and have your proof of working that week in hand. The owner of the company, I would be raising cane! It could be an oversight. |

If you work for a large company or organisation, you need to contact the accounts department or finance manager. Otherwise just go to the boss or supervisor and be straight with them but don't be rude - ring them to say that you haven't yet received your last pay packet and ask what time would suit to call in and collect it. |

Contact the company first, wages dept. etc. If no joy there, go to the jobcentre and report it, go to a local law centre where you can get free advice and representation if it goes that far. There are lots of things can be done to extract money from them. Once I left a job and I was given a cheque at the end. I put it in the bank, only to get a letter from the bank stating that the cheque bounced. All these idiots needed was a call from the Jobcentre asking the boss to confirm that he did this. He poo-pood himself and sent another cheque immediately, which didn't bounce. |
