Just take my foot off the gas until I get down about 5 miles below the speed limit, open the window and do a "stay back" motion with my hand. It's best to be direct with people. Playing games with them just causes road rage.
Tailgating is a way for people to be agressive with other drivers wihtout having to face them. They're usually insecure cowards. Usually a direct, mild, polite confrontation snaps them out of their stupid. |

I may get mildly annoyed, but I will move over and let them pass. I sometimes remind myself that I don't really know what emergency they might have at that moment. It's hard sometimes, but it is safer to give them the benefit of the doubt. I have a brother who just laughs and tells them to, "Hurry, Hurry!" and that makes me laugh about it. |

deal with it the first time, then get to the nearest auto shop, get a BIGASS back steel bumper, and the next time anybody has the guts to tailgate you, slam the brakes. |

As a vetern of many of these situations, I feel qualified to give my most common sense answer. Signal to another lane, and move over, one ego on the road is enough. Going to jail or worse, having a car accident, is for kids. Is it worth "being in the right"? |
