Tell the people who work in whatever place I'm in. When I was a kid, I used to lie and say all the coins I could see trapped were mine. There'd be free munchies when we went swimming in the leisure centre..
Whatever you do don't shake the thing. A surprising number of people are killed each year by machines toppling over on top of them.. |

Every vending machine has to by law exhibit a contact number in case of malfunction. Take the number of the the machine, where it is and how much you lost, then phone the company. To damage the machine in any way could cost you more than you paid for in the first place, plus you could break your toe if you began kicking it and won't be able to claim compensation. Good luck in your vendor, I mean venture. |

There usually a name of vendor and number on the side of the vending machine. Give them a call. I did once, spoke to a lady, took my name and number, location of the machine.
Three days later I got a check for $1.25. But for under any circumstances, do not kick the machine (you'll be charge with vandalism if caught), do not attemp to tilt the machine (one died when the machine fell on him). |

Call the number on the side of the machine and give the machine reference number... my friend lost £1 in a machine but as she was returning home to her country a few days later, I contacted them on her behalf..... they sent about £2.50 worth of stamps as compensation.
Thankyou too, as I flew from Heathrow on the 11th, lost £1 and flew home yesterday, you just reminded me to call the company! Yay :-)
(although I had to board my plane I made sure that I got the number and reference before I got on. The machine even defended me a little by flashing up as "out of order" afterwards...)

If there is someone around I go and ask them to open up the machine and return my money. They don't like it much, but tough they should get it fixed. If there's no one around I'm afraid I've been known to give it a good kick. |
