What do you have to do to become a lawyer?
I want to become a lawyer when I graduate so I want to know what is the best college to go to in Flaorida, how long it will take, the salary, and job opportunities/locations for this career.

You need to do several things to become a lawyer. First, you have to go to law school after college. Law school is 3 years. Then, you have to take and pass an examination (called the bar exam) in most states. (A few states allow graduates of their own law school to skip the exam.) After you pass the bar exam, you apply to the Supreme Court of the state in which you want to practice law, Florida in your case. You have to show that you have never been convicted of a crime, that you are not bankrupt, etc. Once you have passed the bar exam and your application is approved, you take an oath and can practice law in that state.

Salaries vary a lot for young lawyers. Starting salaries in the biggest cities for the most-sought-after graduated can be well over $100,000, but this is VERY unusual. This kind of money is paid by a relatively few large law firms who hire only the best-qualified graduates of the most highly rated law schools in the country. These are, roughly speaking, the Ivy Leage law schools (Harvard, Yale, the University of Pennsylvania, Columbia and Cornell), plus other top-notch law schools like Duke, Stanford, the Universities of Michigan, Chicago, California, Texas and Virginia, and a few others.

Most new law school graduates earn far less than that. Moreover, many take jobs in government and elsewhere that are not strictly lawyer's jobs. Some go to work for public interest groups representing poor people or working on civil liberties issues. These lawyers earn small incomes but get great personal satisfaction. Of course, some new lawyers go out on their own, "hanging up a shingle" and seeking out clients.

Locations? There are lawyers in every town large enough to have a courthouse. But most of the jobs, and all of the highest paying ones, are in large cities.

Good luck! And keep your grades up. The best law schools take only the best undergraduate students.

Everyone has their opinion on a "best" school investigate and go with the one you consider best..... you don't have to major in anything to to with law to continue on to law school.....takes approximately 8 years give or take.....salary depends on what field of law........and what employment path taken.....public defender, private practice, firm.....large or small etc. Good luck :)

4 years undergrad, plus 3 years law school (4 if you go at night)
Then you have to pass the bar in the state you plan to practice in

Salary depends on you, where you practice, what you practice, what kind of firm you work for or if you work for yourself. There are poor ambulance chasers and there are very rich corporate type lawyers.

A lawyer joke...

How do you know when a lawyer lies?
When his lips begin to move.

Learn to lie and not feel guilty about it, then you can become a lawyer. Funny, most politicians are lawyers.

Help???
Go to law school

Although I agree with the Satan part.

First you need to ask a few questions of yourself.

How good are your grades?
Do you want to spend 3 to 4 years in school?
What kind of law do you want to practice?

To name a few disciplines in the field, there is corporate, contract, criminal, government, real estate, general practice, environmental, medical, insurance, and estate to name a few.

Figure out which one interests you the most. Then going through the Florida state bar association, locate a highly successful lawyer in that field. Find out where he/she studied, and what other requirements you will need to fulfill in order to achieve your goal

Just a friend.

Four years to get an undergrad degree (in whatever you want), another three years at law school. Then you have to pass the bar exam, and sell your soul to a law firm to learn how to be a lawyer.

Seven years of school, about $75,000 to $150,000 in cost, and the rest of your life as a morally bankrupt money whore.

an applicant usually must earn a college degree and graduate from a law school. Many States also require Multistate Performance Testing (MPT) to test the practical skills of beginning lawyers. The required college and law school education usually takes 7 years of full-time study after high school—4 years of undergraduate study, followed by 3 years of law school. Law school applicants must have a bachelor’s degree to qualify for admission.

LAW SCHOOL

Man o´Low
I doesn´t matter where school you go.

If you can diferentiate good form evil, you can be a good lawyer, but you need to have the hability to express your ideas accurately and separate your stomach from your heart and head.

Be a good liar. LOL sorry that wasn't nice, you have to be devoted to helping people just like a nurse does. Also you have to go to college and pass the BARS. I hope you like tests.
