For me...everything was just better. Candy tasted like heaven, playing with a snake was actually a fun thing to do, nothing felt better than swinging away in the afternoon, going camping was the ultimate vacation...and there were no worries about the future. |

I miss the innocence and the wonder. Every little discovery seemed exciting and new. Fun and games, especially in the summertime, seemed to be the order of the day. And aside from going to school, doing homework and maybe some chores, there was precious little responsibility at all to deal with. I mean, think of it, you were actually given free reign to just "go out and play."
And what has all that been replaced with in the adult world? Pressure, stress, anxiety, strict schedules, endless responsibilities, financial worries, health issues -- I'll stop now. I'm getting depressed...

I miss dressing up my little brother like a girl - putting curlers in his hair, painting his fingers, and putting on make-up. I miss my little brother and I ganging up on my even littler sister and telling her she was an alien for not having a birthmark, or us sitting on either side of her in the car and squishing her head until she screamed. I miss all three of us being 3 little dorks together. |

I miss everything everyone has already said, trick or treating was the best! all of that candy, and trying to save it so it would last me a long time, although I always ate all of the chocolate and candy bars first. Christmas was so magical, gosh I really did believe in Santa at one point. I remeber when I was like 6 or 7 and there was a news cast about the weather that said they had spotted something red in the sky and they though it was Santa, they said they weren't sure, but it was an Unidentified flying object, and would say it was spotted between New York and Virginia, and I was so excited...such a magical time.
I miss easter egg hunts, parties at school, field trips with all of your friends, feeling like you could do anything in the whole wide world that I wanted (although to some extent I still feel this way), getting so excited over little things, making adventures up to go on with your best friend when they came over to spend the night...actually spending the night at your best friends house and having tons of plans to do at every hour of the day.
I miss freedom from worry and anxiety over everything that I am responsible for now. I miss being that carefree, something we will never have again...unless we win the lottery or something. I miss memeories of great times with my family going camping and hiking, and I miss my 2 brothers, who were taken away from me when I was still a child. I miss fighting with them, making games up and playing with them, and I miss how I can picture them in my memory but will never be able to hug them or play with them again, or lean on them for support that I really need right now. I miss them so much, and I wish I was a kid again. |
