Why is there a stereotype that dreadlocks are nasty and dirty? It seems that people have formed an opinion on a hairstyle that they have only seen on one person and assumes that all people with this hairstyle must have dirty and stinky hair.
Well let me say I do wear my hair in this style. However I refer to my hair as locs and not dreadlocks. Why? Because I love my hair. I do not dread it. Therefore I drop the dread and prefer to say locs.
For those who are curious my hair does not stink and it is not dirty. I take care of my hair just as any other person would do.
I am not offended by others comments because I know your comments are based from ignorance.
So to answer the question....locs are cool! |

I think they look good on some people but mostly if they live near the beach where they can take a swim and dip in the saltwater which is a natural cleanser. Personally, I wouldn't because i like feeling my scalp clean and running my fingers through my hair. |

I like dreadlocks especially with the dyed tips but, they are high maintanance. You have to get your roots re-twisted every two weeks and you have to scrub like crazy while washing your hair. It's better to go to a professional daily with Dreads'. You can't settle for you mother's friend or something. It's not like having corn-rows. You just can't let them go or you'll start looking like the next homeless bum on the street. |

They are cool and look good, unfortunately however due to stereotyping, they reduce your chances in most areas and aspects of life. You might be attracted to by more women, but its hard to get a decent job and hardly anyone will take you serious. |

i they they are cool. it just like any other hair style you still have to wash your hair you still have to put condition. if you oil your scalp you still have to do that. when your hair grows out you either go back to the salon or fix you new growth yourself. it not as easy as most think. if you take care of your hair you wont have lice or any bugs. and that goes for any body who doesn't take care of their hair |

It honestly depends on who is pulling the look off. Some people look good with dreads, some people don't. As a general rule of thumb, if your friends haven't explicitly said "Hey man, you know what? You'd look really great with DREADLOCKS!" then you should probably stay away. |
