Hi I am a telemarkerter. I work for a company that does work for Easter Seals( a charity) I call and ask people for donations of used clothing or household items that can be sold to thrift stores and the money goes to help people with disablilities. When I get my sheets in the mail they have peoples names, phone numbers and address. I usually do not ask for anyone in particular just go in to my speil when someone answers the phone but if a child answers then I usually asked to either speak with the lady of the house or I ask for Mrs. whatever their last name is. I do not ask for people by their first name cause I do not think its proper seeing as they do not know me. |

I think that's one damn fine telemarketer - got you to stay on the line.
Did you know that for every second you stay on the line with a telemarketer you lose a piece of your soul and you die earlier. It's true, I think I read it in the Bible. |

I like it, because then I can say "There's nobody here by that name" and hang up. |

It's would be great if my name and number wasn't on the DoNotCall List. |

It annoys me, because usually, they mispronounce my name. They do it to trick you by being friendly. |

I don't like it either, but it's the way of getting the foot in the door, cause they know if they use the MR or MRS they will get an automatic hang-up.
Good Luck and Prosper...;*!*;... |

No one likes telemarketers! They call you by name to get you off guard and talking to them longer. If you ask them a stupid question or ask to speak to a supervisor, 90% of the time they won't call back! Try getting caller ID, most telemarketers show up as unavailable or an 800 number. |

I don't mind if they call me. What gets me is when every other day someone is calling for James and I don't know any James. |

I'm sorry if you feel harrassed, but if your name is listed in the phone book, then they have a right to call you by your name. It's a marketing ploy to break the ice and get more personal. The idea is to get you comfortable with the telemarketer so its easier for them to sell you something.
If you don't like it then delist your # or go on the do not call registry

Good luck. |

I'm not a fan of telemarketers, I would hate to have the job as well. I think its creepy that anyone I do not know on the other end of the telephone line having my personal information. Find out where they got it. Never ever give out your personal information to anyone over the telephone. |

I think you are right it is cheeky! I know they are doing a job but the people who ask them to do this are disrespectful, you should ask people how they want to be addressed! I tell them politely it is not convenient to call and put the phone down. |

I think that it is a waste of time to talk to telemarketers. They should find a REAL job. |
