What do you do when you live out in the country and nobody works in town where I have to go to work? If we could get Bush out of office the gas prices would lower a lot, but no they had to vote for him because he is such a wonderful President. WHAT EVER!!!!!! |

all the big oil companies are getting paid and we as an americans are suffering and forced to adjusted our spending habits for putting gas in our cars. |

For those of us that remember standing in line for gas in the early 80's...odd number license plates on one day and even on another...we (the US) should have concentrated on increasing fuel economy way back when. The Government didn't learn a lesson or were just swayed by the oil companies to continue to build gas guzzlers. We need to continue to increase fuel economy AND alternative fuel sources and become independent of the Middle East. I guess this is NOT new news...take care. |

Hybrid car is best out of these three, but is not the resolve.
Bush needs to think faster instead of collecting his divedends and interest and stocks faster. As well as his Texas Oil colleage.
There is already alot of Toy Prius running around here in Cali, so, it is a start, but we still see the those long yard 40 personal trucks and tank (Hummm water?)SUV's running faster and bigg.
Maybe someday peeps could work in there own town where they live instead of 50 mile + commutes and tele-commute, if we ever become trusted at work! |

I have a diesel VW Jetta, it gets 50mpg and is a lot faster than a hybird. It can also run on BioDiesel which is made from plants. This lowers pollution and the use of foreign oil.
60% of new cars in europe are diesel cars.... the epa wont allow them here yet tho. Only VW and Benz have them now.
For those of you who drive SUV's and don't need them. I hope gas prices go to $8 a gal so you have to sell it. you are wasteful and greedy, do your part. |

Well I think if everyone would put half of their worrying into the reality of Global Warming then we may be able to solve this MUCH bigger problem and set an example to the rest of the world. After all No earth to live on = No gas problems! |

My 1998 Saturn SW1 station wagon gets 34 mpg avg (33-37). A slightly older car with a smaller engine may be a good alternative to the cost of a new car. It also avoids the complexity (and likely higher maintenance costs) of a hybrid.
For short trips, a bicycle is great. |

Take care of running all errands while you are out instead of going back and forth. |

c) Live closer to work. Ride a bike when you can. Ride public transportation when you need to. If you must drive, drive a TDI diesel. I have a beetle in which I use B20, and I get a combined 45mpg. I get 50+mpg on trips! When my vehicle warranty expires, I plan on switching to SVO (straight vegetable oil). Finally, don't elect a politician, who is directly in the back pockets of big oil, for President. Lets find someone who has the long term best interests of our nation at heart. |

We are not running out of oil & gas.....the oilfield are booming again, but not like b4. All people young and old are going to have to learn how to conserve more...it is a perfet time for young people to start it off for their future..i doubt, you will see the horse and buggy come back, but not a bad idea? Hybrids are still hybrid!...i really think the biofuel will be the next generation fuel, it is already being sold at some stations...heck, b4 long it will be like the cereal isle at the grocery store, you will have to make the choice of what type you can afford or like the best. ITS STILL AMERICA. |

C) What I try to do is fill the tank when I see that it's 1/2 full. this way the cost is cut in half (at least in my heead). Also, I drive to the burbs and find that they have less tax factored into the cost. |

I say use cars only on Long trips and when you get grocies. You can all so car pool with with a Friend from work, and ride a bike. It also helps get you in shape for goodness sake! |

have a day and call it DONTBUYGAS day. Nobody buys a single drop. Maybe that will give the oil companies a wake up call. |

Investment in mass transit for rural areas as well as Metropolitan areas. Lots of farm areas like the county I live in are about 45 min to 90 min away from the larger cities. Now, i'm not talking about the people who shop and such though if you plan it right you can do that as well. But for the daily commuters to and from work it would be a great benefit to have a rail system that ran between the major cities and the smaller towns. it would end up increasing the population and the economics of the smaller cities and towns because people could move to the smaller towns and still commute. And these people who would move in would have to buy food and such somewhere. And with a rail system that would bring a better selection of products to the smaller towns as well. |

i think there should be a nation wide boycott of driving all together no work no school no shopping if 1/2 the country didn't show up for work for a few days straight in a row i think there would be some changes made |

Anyone see the episode of Myth Busters where they had used fast-food oil/grease? They used it to run a diesel engine, and all they did was put it through a coffee filter (to get out the bits of french fries and such), and the engine worked fine. It didn't get as many miles to the gallon, but it's a heck of a lot cheaper!!
Also, the new corn oil or whatever new fuel they are coming up with sounds great. We get to save some of the farmland, get more jobs for farmers, and be less dependent on foreign oil. So make a stop at your local McDonalds and be nice to the country folk! |

Find another way to fuel our cars and then just let the foreign countries sit on all that oil. |

Worldwide change.Oil is not going to be around forever. Experts agree the PEAK of oil availabilty is w/in the next 10-15 years. After that,,,,,,because of the high demand and lower availability, prices will obviously go up. We know alternative fuel sources are out there and many are being worked on as we speak,,,,,,but until we change our "way of life",,,,,we will be oils' slave. Until now,,,,we've had it all, haven't we? Think of all the things oil is used in(med's to tires)-we're screwed if we don't change now. |

It will take a strong leader to step up and in government to per-pose a law that will freeze the gas price. |
