I ran away several times a a young teen. It appears that most of us who run away are having such problems at home that we feel we can no longer bear what is happening. If that is the case, it is best to talk to a trusted adult such as a school councilor, doctor, minister, social worker etc and let them offer the help they can give. Running away is not the answer-it will only be worse than it is at home. When I ran away at 12, I had grown men trying to molest me,one even held me down to try to rape me but I fought him and got away so I was one of the luky ones, I also had people trying to get me hooked on drugs and alcohol, trying to get me to steal etc. That was no better than what I faced at home so I eventually went back home, took therapy and got my life in order. As I said I was one of the lucky ones! Many runaways end up in jail, hooked on hard drugs and having to prostitute to be able to eat, or dead in a gutter! What do I think of runaways? I think most need mental/emotional/spiritual help for the problems they are facing that make them want to run away. Im not saying they are crazy-not at all, but they are kids and dont yet have the life experience tools neccessary to deal with suffering and pain in a logical and good way. So if you are thinking fo riunning away-PLEASE DONT!! Just talk to the adults I mentioned and let them help you. It will get better if you do that.

Don't do it. The world is a big and scary place, and when you are young with no money and don;t have a clue where to go anything could happen to you. You can't trust anyone and you will feel extremely alone.
If you have problems at home or at school then I suggest you talk to an adult that you trust and I'm sure thay will be able to help you out.
Nothing good will come from running away from home, trust me.

I ran away at age 15 because of my abusive father. I moved into my parents summer home in northern Wisconsin and eventually got put in a foster home until I completed high school.

I never regretted leaving home. I worked at the Courthouse in Ashland, Wisconsin after school and acquired some secretarial skills that helped me with my working career.

I don't advise anyone to run away if you can work things out at home and you have loving and caring parents. It really hurts and worries them greatly. Keep that in mind before you think about leaving home.....)(

they are too insecure to seek counseling. if there truly is an issue at home, deal with it instead of running away. that means call the cops, talk to a counselor, whatever it takes.

My daughter ran away. She came back home when she realized she didn't have anywhere else to go & figured out that no one else will take care of her (or you)except your parents.

Whatever is going on can be worked out. Most if not all states have Infoline phone #'s, ours is "211" that you can call for someone to talk to & they can help.

Running away will only make this worse & cause more tension between you & your parents. Your parents were teens once too, they can relate more than you know, you just have to open up & tell them what's going on.

Good Luck!

run aways = hunger, homeless. raped. drugs murdered, prostitution , aids etc etc etc
versus= trouble at home which can be resolved, a home to sleep, food to eat, education safety, medical attention when needed. think hard about it

I think that teenagers who end up on the street can be taken advantage of an harmed by adults that prey on them. If a teen has a terrible situation at home i recommend that they try to talk to a school counselor first. I ran away when I was a teenager, but i got scared and came home really fast!!!!!!! There are too many crazy folks out there to risk it.
