the rankings mean how many copies of the CDs are sold = popularity of the song/artist.
Diamond is the highest i've seen so far (actually Triple Diamond, obtained by Jose Mari Chan's ) |

That is the amount of cds that were sold. Platinum means 1 mil copies were sold. Gold i think is like 100,000 |

It has to do with the amount of CDs that were purchased by the consumer and that plus the price of the CD determines how well the CD did in terms of money. Silver, Gold, and Platinum are all examples of this. |

gold-500,000 copies sold
Platinum- 1million copies sold
Double platinum-2million sold
Triple platinum-3million sold
Sometimes a record really dosent sell that much it can also be certified do to shipment |

When a record goes gold, it means that it sells 500,000 copies. Platinum is 1,000,000 copies. So triple platinum means 3 million copies sold. |

i think it just means that they have sold over a certain amount of albums. For example if you sold over 25000000 copies of a single then you may go gold.
Its all to do with sales figures |

Sorry, but the answer is....
Gold = Sales in $ of over $1,000,000.
Platinum = CD's (as units) sold over 1,000,000. |

I think that gold is one million sold, platinum is two million, and double three and so on |

It relates to how many units are sold, according to the RIAA
gold = 500,000 sold (In the U.S. - I think other countries are different.)
platinum = 1,000,000 sold |
