They are under Chapter 11. It doesn't mean they have gone bankrupt, but they are currently seeing what they can do to avoid that outcome.
They are in the process of closing some stores with sliding sales, and will operate as normal for the holiday season. |

they filed for it but that doesnt mean they will be totally closed. kmart did the same thing years ago and its still around. i live in ga and all but 2 stores are closing here. right now the discounts are only 2o% and the prices werent low to begin with. news says that they intend to sell out all the ga stores before jan |

they have only had 1 profitable quarter for fiscal year 2008, they announced they are closing 155 stores and filing for bankruptcy a couple weeks ago. |

circuit city has filed for bankruptcy and is closing stores nationwide. those stores are having a 10-30% off sale right now and the discounts will probably get deeper for black friday
so use your gift cards now because they will be worthless real soon- you can't get credit, money back, check, etc for it- no monetary value whatsoever- just like what they did when sharper image went down- they didn't honor any gift cards
