Nothing would happen. It would all even out over the next week when they did buy gas!!!!!!!!!! Unless you stop using Gas completely, not buying gas is a joke. |

We would prove to ourselves we can think of other approaches to meet our fuel needs. |

They would buy it the next day. That is all that would happen. |

They would raise the price that day to penalize everyone who played that game when they eventually did come around for gas.
Now, what if a large number of people quit buying gas completely? That could have a significant impact on a lot of things. Unlike normal supply/demand economics, less demand will not bring down the price, it would increase it, to balance out the profits for the oil companies (and the bush administration) |

not a darn thing at all...

Nothing at all would happen, because even if EVERYONE stopped buying today, no one bought at all today, guess what... people will buy tomorrow or the next day, because people still need gas. it makes no real difference to the gas companies if you bought it today or tomorrow. If anything it's just the cost of keeping it all running that hurts them but then you are only hurting the little guy, it does absolutely nothing to big oil, the real people behind the problem. |

Absolutely nothing people always talk about not buying to make the prices go down won't happen unless you do it for months |

Nothing would happen BUT if everyone (LOL) agreed to not buy from certain companies they would be forced to lower their prices and the consumer could virtual dictate the prices to a point
- unfortunately we aren't capable of such organized solidarity to help each other control our own destinies instead of the megamonopolies |

There would be a surplus of gas, the gas prices would go down. Would that be just terrible. |

They would be as many people buying it the next day so the prices would go even further up due to the high demand...
The best thing to do would be for people to go out and buy all the gas in the world and then when stocks run out sell it back to the oil companies at a even high rate than what the bought it for. |

According to the law of Supply and Demand the price of gas would fall. This is because the demand for gas would decrease if people decided not to buy it. When demand falls price (direct relationship) falls. |

Nothing because everyone would get gas the day before or the day after. Prices of gas are set months in advance. |

nothing unless after that day a large number of people decided to curb their gas habits permanently. changing habits would lower gas prices.
gas prices are constantly three years behind us though. so it would take a while to see. |

I think nothing would happen at all, no change in price even if their was an extremely low demand for that day. And, even when the people went out to buy gas the next day after that, creating a high demand. There would still be no change in price. People probably wouldn't notice. Something like that has to happen for a longer period of time and the low demand would have to be sustainable to reduce the price. |

It's very unlikely since gas is a necessity. It would be interesting though. |

just think, there are almost more than 150 million drivers in the US and there are more vehicles than humans if everyone didnt buy fuel for a day your looking at an average 20 gallon tank of fuel times the vehicles, that is about 3 billion gallons times the average $3.20 price per gallon, that is right around 96 billion dollars in one day granted some of you are right we will buy gas the next day but the decrease in revenue in one day in just america would be devastating... and who ever said gas prices are 3 years behind your crazy maybe a few weeks to a month not 3 years |

Who! If lets say everyone in the U.S. quit buying gas for a day, the flip in the economy would be catastrophic. Millions of people would lose there jobs, and the stock market would crash. The price of gas would plummit yes, and would stay at an all time low, because no one could afford to buy it. My town did an experiment a while back. No on bought gas for 1 day and the price dropped almost 1.50. That was amazing. Now the next day when everyone bought gas the next day, the price did go back up. But it showed we are in control of our economy. Think about this situation. Gas right now is 3.49 here at the local gas station. Their are about 2,000 people in our town. 3.49*2000= $3490.00 That is if everyone only buys one gallon of gas a day. But lets get realistic. Everyone here commutes so everyone buys about $50 a day for the trip to Atlanta or Birmingham. so 50/3.49=14.326 Gallons per person per day... Soi 14.326*2,000=$28,653.29 Thats about how much 2000 people in my little town spend a day as a whole... now there are about 6billion people in the usa, some spending more than that, and some spending less.. you do the math. Gas companies charge so much money because they can, they would hate for americans, or the world as a whole to stop paying such high gas prices... Stoping buying gas would cause the to fall yes... infact it would be the cheapest they had been in several years. |
