What happends if I dont do my taxes this year? I got payed cash all year, what should i do?
My boss has been payin me cash....hes in a hurry 2 do his own that i dont know what 2 do.

well, i used to be paid in cash too, but it was still my boss's responsibility to keep track of and pay into whatever taxes are owed, and you should have gotten a W-2, just like any other person. if he has neglected this, then He's the one with the problem, not you. and he is responsible for your being late in paying taxes.

now, if you have had this vague/explicit deal that your boss would NOT be reporting this, then you have a choice. if he is not reporting your employment, and you are considering not paying taxes, then you are taking the risk of someday being audited. and of committing what is technically a crime. lots of people do it, but you still need to do your own personal risk analysis.

however, i will add my own personal experience. one year, i quit my big career job and got a job in a cash, independent contractor gig. i was making far less than i was before, and i only did it for five months. some time after that, i got a job making minimum wage. that year, i didn't file taxes because it was overwhelming to me at the time. but the reality is that i wouldn't have OWED, the govt probably owed me. so, since i was making so little, and i was likely going to break even or end up getting return, i never sweated it. so it also depends on how much you're making. if the govt owes you, they don't really get worked up about it. there are far bigger fish to fry.

If you didn't file last year the govt will come after you. You really should go ahead file. Just because he paid you cash does not mean that you don't need to file. If you are an indepedent contractor then you need to fill out a 1099

I would see an accountant as soon as possible.

He probably didn't turn your wages in ,so if you reported him he would probanly go to jail.Call IRS you don't have to give a name.If you didn't make much it won't matter.

If you don't pay taxes on the cash received just hope your boss doesn't declare it on his.

Jayce's mommy
Just hope they do not come after you...my boyfriend gets paid under the table too and has gotten away with it for a few years now and has a lot in his name....it also depends did you boss file taxes on you? if he didnt then don't worry about...if he did.....hope you get away with it...i wouldn't file bc you will end up owing a lot of money

Assuming he/she gives you a 1099, you have to pay. In fact, you probably should have been making quarterly estimated payments. Plus, you need to pay double on the FICA.

However, if he doesn't issue a 1099 (you're paid under-the-table) F the IRS. Keep it all, and keep quiet!

Did your boss give you a 1099 form (like a W-2)? If he's reporting your income to the government, because he can claim it as a business expense, then you should file taxes. If he was just paying you under the table, then he won't likely report it and you could probably get away without paying taxes (this time). But, ethically, you should pay taxes on your income because most everyone else does, and it pays for many services we wouldn't have otherwise.

Just don't file taxes. They audit less than 1%. This is nothing to worry about. I am a waitress & I have not filed for the past 7 yrs.

Arbitrage
If you're getting paid cash, you're still supposed to pay taxes. The IRS doesn't really care as long as they get the money, I would think. I would imagine there's some section to report misc income. There's still time, and you can file for an extension if you really need to.

You could just not pay taxes. This is illegal. You might or might not get away with it. That's the risk you take. I would suggest paying them, though. If you get caught, it's really bad.

Ask H&R block how much you owe and then send it in, or let them do it for you. Also make sure you don't report the actual amount you made, maybe report half of it or so, depending on how old you are.

JustAsking
if he pays you cash then I don't think your boss would WANT you to file taxes.
