i read recently that the customer is not always right, and at best they should be given the benefit of the doubt. Just look around and see that retail businesses do not cater to the public in the way they once did, either in manners, dress, or friendliness. My answer to some of these, (When I know I am right) is to say, You would not have a business if it were not for customers. A famous car salesman said that each customer has 300+ acquaintances. Exponentially, that makes a stadium full of potential customers! I do tell my friends about bad service, and I also from time to time (extreme cases only) to call headquarters.
The recent debacle I had was with a retail store who would not turn off vulgar music because he (young store manager) liked it and said I had to call the radio station, and complain to it! I said the store was a family store; he said it is a retail store. After a not too pleasant conversation with him, I called headquarters and the issue was resolved. |

its gone out the window when people realised they could use this to scam companies by getting the benefit of the doubt.
end of the day im not giving a discount to someone who comes in and claims they got the wrong product when i know damned well they were charged for a lesser one, whether it was what they wanted in the first place or not, the fact remains.
Sorry but some customers are onyl out to scam companies. If we make genuine mistakes we will be the first to say sorry and rectify it, but i cant stand customers who THINK they are right when they are not. |

sorry but customer's have grossly abused that philosphy. I've worked retail for a number of years and some of the BS excuses I've heard for product returns and things to complain about made me question why that saying is even there.
I had one lady complain that the store was a fire hazard and that we needed to rake up all the leaves around the edges of the store because they could catch on fire from someone's cigarette and start the store on fire. Never mind it was fall and we were next to park with a ton of trees and never mind that the store was made of brick and not wood. |

That was true when stores wanted to attract your business.
Now there are sooooo many people in our country, and people spend so much more of their income now than they used to, that they can afford lose customers.
The customer doesn't count. Think about that the next time you are shelling out your hard earned cash.
I say do without and keep your moola. |

Believe it or not, there is so much emphasis on the time that the employee has to serve the customer, and the feeling of being rushed, that sometimes the customer does not get the recognition that they deserve. However, I have had a moment at work where some guy was having a really bad day and he threw coffee on me! That sucked! Beyond that, not all people are honest, so people are more reluctant to be nice. Just believe in the old ways! Hang in there! |

Exactly, its like they are offended if you ask a question or heaven forbid ask for help even tho they stack things 10 feet off the ground. I rate it right up there with a service and handeling/charge, I just ordered your product now I have to pay for you to put it in a box to send it to me. |

I sort of have mixed feelings about this one, because it's fine in priniciple, but if a customer is rude, I would side my employees and tell him to get lost. |
