Go for your dream job. The family can get someone else to work for them. if you reluctantly work for the family, you probably won't be happy, the job may not be performed well, everyone looses out in the end!
However, how do you know you don't like the family's job, if you do not give it a try first? |

I have been put in this very position, and chose to follow my passion rather than the business I would surely inherit. I do gladly help them when they are short-staffed, though. |

If your Family business needs your presence in there business and it's heavenly important than you should join your family business. But if 1% you think that the business would not be at loss without you than you should follow and achieve your Dream job.
you have all rights to have your dream job.! |

Tell them what you're going to do, but stay around another week or two and then go after your dream job. |
