The main skill EVERY manager need is the ability to communicate with confidence. If you can't do this you cannot lead, It is that simple. There is a group called toastmasters, although I have never been, that helps people speak with more confidence in a group setting. I have heard it is very effective. |

The most important thing that most managers need to know is that more than just managing people and tasks, a good manager is a facilitator for the people that report to them. A manager's most important job is to make sure their direct reports can accomplish their tasks.
It's more than just telling people what to do. It's making compromises. It's running interference from higher-ups or other departments. It's recognizing someone when they go above and beyond the minimum requirements.
A good manager will be working twice as hard as the people that work for them.
