MM | What is a good follow-up call after an interview? |
I have interviewed, and I have sent the thank you letter within 24 hours of the interview, They told me in the interview i would hesar back from them the next week, and it has been a week, so how should i make the follow-up call? what should i say?
Please do not leave any mean, or bad remarks about not getting the job, i just need advice on a follow-up call, Thank you! :)

I would also like to say, they did fingerprint me so that i didnt have to comeback incase they decided to hire me.... Also i asked what the next steps were, they said the hireing manager was out until last friday (which is one lady i met with ) and they would finish their interviews this week, I was the first one to be interviewed and they had 9 others to interview... I know this because my cousin works with the company and knows the lady i interviewed with |

It can be as simple as that. :)
Sometimes, with certain buisnesses, they may very much want to hire you, but they have to wait on other things within the company- such as funding etc. It can be frustrating waiting.
No harm in calling, of course. It shows your interest, and if they filled the position elsewhere, it will be good to know so you can seek elsewhere! Sounds like you are doing just fine, thus far! |

You have to realize the interviewers give everybody they interview the same line, "everything looks good, you will be hearing from us soon", but in reality, over 80 % of the times you NEVER hear from them again. I do not bother with follow ups, they are a waste of time. Mypolicy is, if you do not hear from them in 5-7 working days, it is time to look elsewheres. |

Go ahead and make the call. When an interviewer is trying to make a decision, they choose the person who stood out in the best way.
The interviewer will be more likely to remember you for the job if you appear reachable. |

i would wait it out just a little bit longer, because you do not want to sound like you are desperate for a job, even if you might be. After a few more days, you should call and thank the interviewer again for interviewing you and ask if it would be necessary to set up a second interview. don't sound too needy though. |

Great job on sending the thank-you letter. Most jobs will put you higher then most when seeing that. I worked for a very very big corporate job (I left because of maternity) and they loved that about anyone who applied it was a huge plus. I also had to go through 4 interviews plus the las interview was with the General Manager fun :) I was also told I would recieve a call with in a week and I think it was within a week and a day. I wouldn't call yet because you don't want to look desperate. Let them think that you might have other job offers and let you interview'ers know that they are not the only one's your applying for that way they might speed things up if they want you. It's somewhat like buying a car lol. Make them think your getting something better from somewhere else don't mention a name (there dosent' even have to really be another name) :) and let them come to you. If you didn't get the job they usually send a letter reguarding that you didn't recieve the job.(hope you don't see that one) I guess If its after a week and 3 days or call on Friday and ask to speak with who you had the last interview with and let them know that you recieved an offer from another Co. and you would still like to consider them and if you were still in the running for the position (GOOD LUCK)!!! |

Ive never heard of sending out thankyou letters to companies after they have given you an interview. Wouldnt this be enough confirmation of your interest in their final decision?
I normally dont send out a thankyou letter but would call them within 7 working days of the interview to inquire about the decision in the politest possible way. As you have already sent them the letter i think it would be a bit pushy to call them aswell. |
