If you're a professional and highly skilled in your career, ask for top dollar. If you're not, figure out how much you DO know and ask for a percentage of top dollar based on the percentage of what you know vs what you still have to learn. |

Since you are applying for your first job, you should know that you never do ask what you will be paid... 'they' tell YOU what you will get, if they hire you.
If you want the pay, accept the job.
If not, move on.
Suggest you do a bit of research on the jobs you're applying for, so you aren't going in blind.
Also suggest you remember that about 63,000 people just got laid off, if you're job-hunting in the U.S.--
Best of luck to you... |

You don't ask for a wage for your first job unless you plan to get fired the first day. |

Well, it depends....how old are you, what education do you have and what job are you applying for?
If you're 15, you're more than likely gonna get minimum wage, but if you're 20 and went to college than you'll probably start at just above whatever the minimum is for that job. Employers seem to think that paper is more important than experience. |

Depends where you are, which country, state, province, etc.
Here in Ontario, Canada
the minimum wage is about $8.25 which is decent for a first job. |

depends on what experience you bring to the job and what the duties are. |

Minimum wage. |

Don't ask for less than minimum wage, obviously. The best strategy is to write "negotiable" in the place where you are supposed to write a "required wage." That way they might (but unlikely) give you more than you were expecting. |

7.50
but always put a little bit MORE than what you want because they "compromise"
For example, if you ask for $10 an hour they'd offer $9 or around there.
depends on the company. |

At least 8-9 an hour, you can't really live on anything less. |

$18.00 hr. if they can't pay you that it's not worth working for that company. |
