any of the jobs mentioned by other posters are allright to start with.however, you really should consider a little more education ,college or trade school etc. most schools offer courses days ,nights and online.you will be able to offer your son a better life as well as yourself. do you really want to be in one dead end job after another. |

You might try to work at "humility". Working at a fast-food restaurant is not a bad place to start. You would learn accounting, patience, service, and many other valuable skills. If you have done babysitting then you have some experience, try expanding it. In the meantime show that you are "working" on being an excellent parent by providing financially even if it means working at McDonald's. |

First off I would have someone help you with a Resume. Even if you don't have experience in anything. It just looks good. Then write a cover page explaining your situation and that you are looking for a career oppurtunity and for someone to give you a chance. Dress nice and go out to different companies to try and be a secretary or office assistant. Those are good jobs because they give you people skills and computer skills. Or if you are out of high school and have your diploma or GED go to the nearest community college and apply for financial aid. As a single mother you would get a good amount of money while you were going to school to pay bills and they would pay for your degree. The nursing program or medical assistant program is good paying. Whatever you think you see yourself as. Being young with no experience is hard to get a "good" job I know from experience. It takes time and patients to find the right person to give you a chance. Check jobs online, newspaper and even if you have a place that helps people get jobs in your community. Also if you put an add in the paper to be a nanny. You have experience with children and your a mom. Try that. Some get paid pretty good. Good luck and don't give up! Something will come to you if you try hard enough. |

First there is nothing wrong with someone your age working at McDonald's. If you need the money especially. As for a good job? A good job is one where you are happy and enjoy the work. What it is and how much it pays are secondary items, but do have importance. Finding a good job may take time and you may work at a few that are not good before you can find that good one. Get your foot in the door at a job even if it's McDonald's or Burger King to start. Get some experience and then move on and up. |

One that you enjoy or feel comfortable doing. It also has to be something that can sustain your needs and allow you to live comfortably.
At the age of 17, you might want to consider upgrading you education. Have your son taken care of during the time you are away. Whatever you do with your life should be done with great consideration of what you would like your life to be like in the future and most importantly, raising your baby boy so that he can strive and compete in our changing world.
Knowledge is power. |
