Depends on the city. 24-34k is a wide span. Probably would've been better tp say "..about 25 thousand/yr" or "at least 24 thousand/yr" |

It does put you to the disadvantage by asking you that as each employer already has a pay range of.
But if he/she does not tell you in advance the pay range you have to bargain with, you should already made yourself a pay range in your mind that you had to have in order to take the job. You probably should have been honest with them & told that you needed to know the pay range of that job and if it was suitable to you , start discussing your questions like,what are the duties expected, how long before a raise, etc. & since you have not told any thing about what the job requirments would be, but no one can help you much because an Administerative Assisstant can be about any thing that employer wants to call administrative assistant.! |

The range you states sounds okay, but don't sell yourself. There are many other factors to consider... Two of the most important factors are Chaos and Revenue. Simply put, the more chaotic the business (or disorganized/dysfunctional), along with a good revenue stream (ability to pay bills), the more money you can command by bringing the hope of organizing and calming the business at the administrative level. Many people think Administrative assistants are simply Secretaries - not true!! A good assistant is worth his/her weight in gold and many are willing to pay to keep things organized and anchored. Look at how big the company is, how fast it's growing, and the general organization and expand your range can expand up to $60K easily. |
