A check that is dated other then the day you have written it.
For example.. today I am giving you a check for $100 but I date it 22nd. You can't cash it until then. |

if you wrote a check today.. January 17, 2007, and put the date in as January 20, 2207, that is a POST DATED check. |

writing a check for the amount but dating it for the day you expect the funds to enter your account |

at the top of your check you will see a spot to enter a date. the date that you put on the check is the date that it can be cashed. Your landlord may ask you for postdated checks for rent for the year. You would date each check for the beginning of the month or whenever rent comes out, for all the months in the year. each check will be taken out of your bank account on that date. |

A postdated check is simply a check with a future date marked instead of the present date. People will often do this if they do not have the funds currently available and wish the check not to be cashed for a few days. |

it's a check written on one day but the date of a few days later is written on it....the point is to get the person receiving the check to wait until the written date to cash it.....however they don't have to....the bank will cash it anyway.....usually |

write the check today but put tomorrow or a date next week or month on it so the bank doesn't screw you over with being over drawn if you have the minimum bank balance today but want to buy something and when you get paid tomorrow or whenever and put that money in the bank it will cover the check you write |

it means you can date it for the time you would like it to be cashed in. |

When you write out the check and put a date in the future on it. Example: If it's the month of May, but you put June on the check. Technically it means the check can't be cashed till June, but it's rarely observed. Banks cash them anyway. |

a post-dated check is a check you write , or, that someone might give you, with the check's cashable date sometime in the future, or postdated. You should know that many banks will still accept a "postdated check" on deposit even though the check's written date is not the present one. |

A check dated for a date after today's date. For example, If the check were dated January 20th, 2007...it would be post dated.
People do this so you cannot cash the check until a certain date. As*holes. |

Means you write out a check for a later date to be cashed. Technically a bank can not take that check until that date arrives...but they never check the date sometimes. |
