Don't be nervous. You will be fine. I moved away for college...and yeah I got homesick..but it wasn't too long that I realized that I was my own person. If I wanted to see my parents, I took a weekend off and went to see them.

I think that the biggist problem with the first year of college is getting used to the fact that you are not required to go to class. So it took me a while that even though you don't HAVE to go..you really should.

Good luck. Remember that college is your time...you should experiment with anything that you want to! Have fun.

if your a good studier...get intrested in people...

If you have a good social life...get intrested in studying...

In my experience it's better to know your major before you start paying tuition.

it depends on your state of mind when you go. either you're ready for it or you're not. don't rush into anything if you're not sure. you'll meet lots of new people, but make sure that you are always yourself. join some clubs and go to class. the reason you are at college is to learn - the other stuff comes naturally. just be good, kind, understanding person who is ready for one hell of an adventure and you'll be fine.

It really isn't that bad. You get used to it pretty fast.

Like everyone said, don't be nervous... college is okay, it is not scary at all. You get a chance to meet great people, and probably make life long friends.
If you're gonna live their (through school housing), even better, that is probably the best way to meet people and really get to know them.
And if you do get homesick, you can always take a weekend off, or just make a simple phone call. But overall, its great... something you really don't have to worry about.

It's the greatest time in your life.

Well, at first i was so nervous. But if u're someone who ppl take in easily or fast, then no problem for u. U'll be shy at first and uncomfortable at first. But when u start going up to ppl and saying hi, then it's smooth sailing all the way.
College life is slightly different than High school life. It is so much more fun. I'm still in college though. and i'm also staying in a hostell.
From my experience, you will be really homesick at first. But after a while once u have found your group, u find it's not so bad after all staying away from your parents. it's rather fun. cuz at night you and your frens can maybe hang out outside of your hostell for awhile and no parents to tell u to come back inside.
It's not scary at all. In fact it's fun. College is full of activities that you can be involved in. (depends on your college)
Good luck on your first day of college!!! HUGS!
Trust me, it's great!
:)

It is scary, if you are afraid of the unknown ... or if you tend to be a loner ...

Everybody gets homesick at one time or another ... but when (not if) you develop new friendships, you'll only want to go home to do the laundry (or ask for mor $$).

For me, once I viewed it as a daily discovery/challenge, college gave me a new and positive perspective on life.
You find true purpose and meaning in relationships/true friendships ...

Good luck and have the time of your life :)

College is a great experience where one gets to learn how to live life without the constraints of parents. That being said, if you live as your parents taught you, you will never get into any real trouble.
