Being self employed.
You spend the beginning of it, waking up in the middle of the night with cold shakes wondering if you are bouncing checks today, and hopeing that it finally gets easier.
Towards the middle of it (or so I am being told) life gets easier, you are the king of the road and you work your own hours. Unlike the previous section, it no longer means 80 hours a week.
At the end of it, you smile, you haven't asked permission to take a day off in 40 years, and all the fruits of your labor are yours. You do not have to talk about how the company cut your pension and there is no one whose opinion you will live and die for.
