Be direct. Have a one-on-one talk with your boss and le them know that you enjoy your job and the people you work with, but that the cost of living has gone up and you need more money. If your boss truly values you, they will most likely understand and give you that raise.

Good luck!!

Remember you do not get raises based on your needs but on how your performance affects the company and the rising cost of living. I would tell y our boss that when he/she has a moment that you would like to speak with them. You want the time to be right so things are more likely to go in your favor. Make a list for your boss of any new tasks you have taken on or things you have improved on. You can also make mention the length of time you have been there and the rising cost of everything including GAS. Tell them you would like an increase, have a realistic amount in mind. Look in the paper, talk to friends, or go on-line for comparisons. I would start your conversation telling him/her about how much you do like your job and that you are willing to take on extra responsibilities if it would help them justify paying your more. Good luck!

If you're indispensable or your boss appreciated your hard work with the Company. Well, I think you should be frank to your boss for a raise.

You may drop him an email or a memo, if you do not want to "face to face" to ask for a raise.

In your message, you may wish to enquire:-

1] Is there a practise for the company to have an employee's annual increment?

2] Tell him that you're happy working with the Company and the people around, and let him know will there be an increment made for you this year.

If your wage is higher than what the market average, then DON'T ask. Stay and work more harder [make sure your boss SAW your hardwork]......

Good Luck!

Do you have quarterly, semi-annual or annual performance reviews with your boss? Are you doing poorly or great?

If you're not measured a lot and don't know what your boss thinks of you, you have a bad manager for a boss.

A boss is supposed to manage and that means measuring the outputs of the inputs (you).

I'd go to you boss with a description of what you do, what you have done or do well, how you've done more than was expected, and why you think you should get a raise. Go in with well thoughtout and useful reasons other than you just want a raise.

Imagine I am your boss.

Why should I give you a raise?

Drop me a line with your answer.

Just say that you really like working there and that you wouldn't want to leave. But you feel like you have worked hard and that you think it's time to move up and then say what you think that you should make.

If possible show him your personal growth in the position. How you are a valuable asset to the company or department. Do you meet or exceed all departmental or company goals set for you. What did you bring to the table and so on.

Ex:
I am a telephone order operator/customer service. I make notations whenever i suggest add-ons and the customer actually buys them. I have created tools for me to work with so that i could be more effiecient in answering the customers questions about products etc.

Anyway, good luck

First of all think if your company is in the posibility of give a raise (Is the company profitable?).
Then think on your merit. (Do you deserve a raise?).
Then investigate if people doing the same work is winning more. (Does the market pay more than what I being paid?)
If you answer YES to this questions, just go to your boss and with a big smile explain what I told you and you have a lot of chances to get a raise.

Request a meeting. At the meeting in a nice way explain that you'd like a raise. But don't make the boss feel like he has to pay your expenses.

Say, "Yo Wigga you betta raise up my allowance beefoh i busta cap in yo fat a$$ while u sit in that red velvet chair of yourz.."

Him: "OMFG NO DON'T *gives you all his money* TAKE IT ALL OMFG"

The end. It's that simple... seriously. Try it!

C R
First of all figure out why you deserve a raise. Convince yourself first, then convince your boss.

Ask him/her if you could have a few minutes of their time, then explain all the reasons. If you don't get one, then you know it's time to move on.

Landon
work harder..
