What is the best way to be more outgoing?
I can't get up the nerve to talk to new people. I want to make friends but I'm just not sure how to because I am really shy when I first meet some one.

Just realize that as far as meeting people goes you have everything to gain and nothing to lose. We're all human and maintain a good sense of humor about it; don't be so concerned about embarrassing yourself because we are the only mammals that blush-or need to. Just keep it on easy street duchess.

Get a tee shirt that says "Outgoing Mail" on the front and "Incoming Mail" on the back. Then make sure to be ready to both receive and transmit mail 24/7 and to explain the meaning of your new tee shirt to everyone that asks! Since "Outgoing Mail" is on the front, your emphasizing being outgoing to everybody when your facing them.

Wear something that stands out..not outlandish but brightly colored, perhaps...then, as people come up to you, talk about THEM...take the stress off of you and they'll think you're pretty smart and want to get to know you better.

Surround yourself in activities that you truly enjoy and have alot of knowledge about and that way you do have alot to talk about. I find it hard to be outgoing in a group of strangers also UNTIL a subject comes up that I know something about and then watch out! U can't shut me up! lol Thats why I come to Yahoo Answers! Be yourslef and [people will soon be flocking to u

Don't get drunk, that's cheating. You have to try to feed of the adrenaline, breathe easy and remember that everyone in the world gets anxious sometimes, they just don't show it. It's not life or death and just try to think of how glad you could be maybe an hour after your nerves kicked in when you overcome them.

1. Join a hobby group or a special interest group. you will already have something in common with the people around you so it will make the new people more approachable.
2. Take a class about something you are interested in. It will expose you to knowledge and others who are. It puts people on a more equal footing. The people who are there for the class usually don't know any one there so they are scared too.
3 Don't try so hard. Some of the best friends you will ever have are the ones that are the ones you didn't fall all over. Remember to treat people like you want to be treated. You may not always get that in return but people who appreciate it will see you are a real person all the time and they will only be able to think of you as a good person to have as a friend. Word will spread.
