What type of business are you in?
Put them on a point system. Such as points for using both sides of paper in the fax or copier if not going to be presented to anyone.
Get trash cans for recycables, can , plastic ect., use at recycle center end of month and use the money to but them lunch. Reward them back for saving money. This is money they don't realize they saved from their expenses. (ie: cans, plastic bags) Now the recycled paper saves you. Use shredder for office peper as well. There are so many verables here I could answer if I new your business catagory. |

Been there done that. Rewards. People love to be recognized for doing good things. I think the best one is to split the savings with them (perhaps on a one time basis).
Or you can pool together the savings and offer a prize to the best idea of the month.
Lastly, and I think this is less successful because it is longer term but offer them the opportunity to earn shares of stock in the company, then you can involve them as "owners" to increase profitability.
You can also use a profit sharing plan at work (a retirement account you can use in addition to other plans you may have).
Employees who feel respected and valued will move heaven and earth for you to do a good job. |

Offer an incentive, a company I worked for ran an internal competition for suggestions and the winner was rewarded with gift certificates for the goods the company sold, They received a lot of answers and used quite a few of them, but the one that had the biggest long term saving was the winner. |
