lets see.....in 1989 I was almost blown up by a floating mine in the persian gulf.....I have almost been hit by cars.. fallen on the tracks in the subway when I was a child....I have had more close calls riding on a motorcycle than I want to remember....I woke up with a knife to my thoat on one ship....crack heads are such nice people... I could go on .. but I am starting to wonder if
A) I am one lucky bastard
B) God is Mad at me but keeps missing.
C)it is true God watches out for the Irish / drunks/ small children and idiot....
hmmm I am only half Irish so that cant be it...
I work on ships for a living so there is always something that can go wrong......gotta keep on your toes....

I have never come that close to death but once when i was crossing a road i saw a motorcycle speeding towards me when i was in the middle of the road.Fortunately my senses were sharp enough that i had enough time to jump on the other side of the road. |

I fell down a steep hill once on a hike and according to some of my friends hit my head on a big rock and blacked out. I don't actually remember the rock or blacking out, but I may have and it was nasty nonetheless. I hurt my knee pretty badly; that was 4 years ago and it's still not fully healed.
Also I know a guy who was supposed to get on an airplane but his flight got switched. He later found out that his original one had crashed. No joke. |

I fell asleep behind the wheel once after driving my girlfriend home. I started dreaming of Beavis and Butt-Head, and I swear to God I thought "This isn't right, I can't be watching Beavis and Butt-Head and driving at the same time." I woke up and was headed right for a tree at sixty miles an hour. I swerved and got back on the road. Beavis and Butt-Head saved my life! |

I have'nt really come that close to death, but my older brother has. Him and his friends thought it would be cool to sneek into the local pool, and jump off the railing on the slide. He made it the first time but second time he was wet and he slipped he grabbed the rail and yelled for help, right as his other friend got up to the top he fell. He fell 15 feet into concert. long story short, he had laceration on the back of his head, 5 brocken ribs, 6 brocken bones in his back, severly bruised lung, 3 thoracostomys, lots of internal bleeding,3 days in the ICU, 2 more weeks in the hospital, a helicopter ride,scars and nightmares about the fall and the thoracostomys. And every body in our town hates going to the pool, his blood stains are still there. I wish they would just paint over them. Every body says it's cursed. |

Well now, I was aboard an aircraft that was cruising at 27,000 ft. when all four engines flamed out due to icing on the wings being injested. The pilots go three of the engines restarted and recovered just under 1,000 ft. That was close enough, except for the fact that I was in Washington in 1980 when Mt. St. Helens blew her top. Luckily, I was in an area that somehow avoided the pyroclastic flow that destroyed everything on all sides of us. So I felt that was too close of a call. And the last time was last year when I was working with the rescue teams in Pakistan after the large earthquake that had occured in November. The aftershocks were still knocking down buildings we were in while trying to get people out. We ended up getting trapped for 3 days, and so that was really scary too. Thinking back on this... I might want to get out of this line of work... LOL. |

my friend was on my neck in the pool and my head was under water and i could not get out and i tried 6 times and the 7th time i finally got her off of me and her dad said y'all be more careful now! and i was like hello i almost died here! |
