Semantics, mostly.
Your heart knows whether you love someone or not, whether it's an infatuation or the "real deal". It's popular to label the difference between the two, claiming "in love" is more of a real thing.
Love is love is love is love. If it's real, you feel it in ways you will have never experienced before. Since it doesn't happen to everyone--at least when they expect it--they don't really know for sure what it is. I guarantee you that when it hits you, you'll know. |

When you love someone, that is a wide-open, multiple thing. You can love many people. Being in love, as most people use the term, is a very focused, one-on-one sort of thing. Some couples who are in love barely know anyone else exists. Romeo & Juliet is the classic couple in that regard. They ignored all their relatives, and thereby got into a world of trouble, because they were so intensely focused on one another. |

Love lack selfishness. In Love puts a desire in you to create oneness with the one you love. You desire to meet every need that person has and when you can't there's a void you try and fill. You step outside of yourself and constantly look for ways to make that person happy. When that desire leaves you have to question. Have I become selfish. How do you get back there? Constantly meet their needs that's what true love is all about. |
