Check how much's in it, then see if there's a reward before turning it in. |

Hide it. Yes, it's true.
Then I'd try to find out who left it there. |

I'd spend it. Why would I want to turn it in for someone else to spend it. |

I could say that i will turn it in so it could be returned to the rightful owner but i would be lying, so to be honest i would keep and use it for what ever i need it for. Bills, food, entertainment, and clothes are on top of thr list. |

Make sure nobody is watching me and walk off with it, then see if there is a name in it somewhere... if not, I would keep it. Of course I may wait awhile to spend it, depending on how much money it is and where it possibly came from, just in case it makes the news. Depending on where it came from, I probably wouldn't return it, just keep it for myself. Finders keepers, losers weepers, right? ;-)) |

Look around to see if anyone is watching me take it!! No I really would look to see if there was any ID on it first, then the big moral dilemna would take place in my brain of "should I take it?", or "should I turn in in to the police cause this might be some senior citizens' nestegg I am stealing?" I think ultimately I would turn it in to the police, but I would be sure they had my name and number just in case no one claimed it, or if the person claimed it wanted to give me a nice reward for my good deed! |

I would contact the local sheriff. I would NOT keep it, unless no one claimed it. |

If it had any markings as to where it might go I would return it otherwise it would be listed in lost and found pages of the newpaper as "bag found at such and such location call to identify contents". After no one identified them correctly, shopping trip here I come. |

To be really really honest... I do think i could use the money but not for some shopping spree... I'm short by 20000$ for my college tuition which begins this fall. I got a score of 1800 on the SAT with a math score of 710 and would definitely get an admission with that but being a non-US citizen i won't get federal aid and would therefore be unable to attend college even after working really hard for the SAT. So i'd consider the money as a gift from God and donate all the money above 20000 bucks... Won't keep a single penny more than what I need to study. But if there's an ID on it and it belongs to a person who would be destitute after losing it... I think my conscience wouldn't let me keep it... and if it belongs to someone who has more zeroes on his bank book than hair on his moustaches... I'll definitely keep it. And if any of you finds any such money... which would help someone study rather than be used for someone's jewelry and clothes... contact me at iounikhil@yahoo.com and I'll tell you the name of the university and all my details just in case you need assurance. |

Find out if it can be returned to its owner, doing all the above of what other answerers suggested. If no one comes forward to claim it I would give at least 10% to a ministry as a 'Thank You' to God and see how I can use the money not only on myself but also be a help or a blessing to people around me, especially those who have shown kindness to me or those that may have a need at the time. I would not have had the money ordinarily, so it would be quite easy to be generous. |

Id lift it, look inside... if it was a lot of money I would hand it in, although being honest if it was a £10 or less i'd probably keep it... |
