well assuming you`re in the uk.
the 0871 prefix is a revenue generating number, basically you buy an 0871 number and use it as your business number, anyone calling it gets diverted to your real number but they get charged extra for the call some of which goes to the operator and some (3-6p per minute) is cashback to you.
the more people that call you the more money you make.......
bottom line....dont call back, thats what they want and it`ll cost you |

It's a national rate number (UK). |

It's a local rate call within the UK. Chances are it's another cell phone company trying to get you to upgrade your handset or switch to a contract that offers a billion minutes a month in exchange for your house, your car and your firstborn. Any calls I get on mine beginning 0871 are invariably spam calls.
Note to our US friends who answered this question, this site is Yahoo UK and Ireland, not US and to us it is not an overseas call. |

Text them back. This will be converted to a voice call if necessary but is cheaper. If it won't go it will be a company. |

i always think if it is either anonymous or an 08 number, i ignore it, if it is that desperate and they relly need to get intouch with me, they will leave a message,
so i would assume it's not important, they are either trying to sell you somthing or get some money out of you |

Its a UK national rate number but not in an international format as our American buddies think. Internationals show up with +44 and omit the first zero, so it would be +44 8713105191 for UK international.
Best guess is that it'll be a call centre trying to sell you an 'upgrade' on a mobile phone. Would just ignore it if I was perfectly honest with you. |

It sounds as though it could be from a call centre in .....AbiDabi.....
offering free phone updates or something simple, Don't call it back it could well be a con somewhere down the line, and you'll have to pay the bill, so Just Ignore it, If it's that important they'll call you back.................. |

Never dial 0870 or 0871 if you can avoid them. The owners of these numbers share the revenue with the telephone companies so they are excluded from any special deals you may get. I believe that national companies who have these numbers must make a fortune. |

0871 is the area code of Chieti in Italy |

Its definately a foreign number. The first 4 digits are the country code and area code. The rest is a phone number just like you or me would have.
Example: If your number were 867-5309, and you lived in the United States... The US prefix is "1". Lets say you lived in Ohio (740 area code). Your number would show up as:
1740 867 5309 on a european phone. |
