Her parents obviously aren't paying enough attention to where she is, what she's doing, or anything else. An 8 year old can't just walk into the gas station and buy a pack, someone has to be buying them for her. I can't stand parents who don't keep tabs on their kids. Sadly, she'll probably be the 14 year old pregnant girl with a drug problem. |

I've seen 12 year olds smoke. Scary seeing them. With their lighters in their hands. Blowing smoke out of their mouths. You could just smell it. |

I think smoking is gross no matter what. I don't understand why people would even want to start!
and I think the girl's parents should be a little more responsible and take their daughter out of an enviroment where she could get a ciggarette! |

People should'nt say they hate people who smoke.What if it was their mom or dad who smoked, whould they hate them?well in my opinion about underaged smokers are that they are trobled people.I don't hate people who smoke I just think they can do better.Under aged smokers are not bad people they just have problems.Most under aged smokers got into smoking by pree presher.I am 10 years old and I hate to see people like my friends smoke(but they don't).So what I am tring to ssay is that I don't hate under age smokers.I think 3/4 kids under age smoke.Its really sad.One thing I know is I will never smoke under age and at all.In my opinion under age smokers need help.So thats my opinion. |

I think underaged smokers should have a heavy fine (parents)
I smoke myself and started when I was 12 years old, I wish it would not have been so easy to get smokes. I also wish my mom and dad would have kicked my a** from here to china and back. I hate smoking and everything about it...and yes I have tried to quit, just wish it was easier!! |

i think she was actually older, and urg, smoking PERIOD is STUPID. why waste life eh? every cigareete you smoke reduces your life span by about 26 hours |

I would write her mom a note .I was an under age smoker and it really affected my health now . I wished someone cared enough to turn me in .My mom never knew about this .Really could be affecting her lungs. |

Well I would have to say it is very sick! lol well i mean i smoked for like 2 months on and off but if i my parents were not so involed in smoking i would not have try'd it but i did then i quite when my bf told me **** so yea my oppion on underage smoking that it shouldnt be aloud and that COPS should bust down on it more :) or not but there shouldnt be 8 years old smoking :| |

A lot of young children smoke because their parents smoke, and many teenagers smoke because it "looks" cool and peer pressure. Adults should try to quit smoking so that they will not influence their kid's choices. Kids and teens should learn about how smoking can harm their bodies and other people's too. I think it's irresponsible and stupid. Btw...a fun fact...if a person smokes a pack a day, each year they will have 1/4 of gallon tar in their body. |

I guess at some age most people have tried smoking but at the age of 8 is ridiculous! I wonder if her parents are aware? maybe they even encourage it

This is the problem: In a study in 1976, scientist discovered that people that started to smoke before their lungs where fully developed, which is at around age 17-18, were more at risk of getting cancer. The reason for the study was because, in France, more people smoke than in America, but in America, more people get cancer. Why? Because in France tobacco laws are very strict, cigarrettes sales are controled by the State eficiently (you can only buy cigarrettes in specially designated stores), and people, really, don't smoke until they are 21. |
