Anything having to do with self image. People buy ideas not products. If you can find an item that purports to solve a labor intensive action such as working out, people will buy it. They probably won't use it, but they will buy it. Every year, people complain about bills, but buy movies, pool tables, video games, etc Every year, fat people buy weight loss equipment. Today, they're still fat and probably used the machine once or twice. Every day, people shop grocery stores or restaurants and purchase the fat free this or the low sodium that. The food taste terrible and it doesn't really change anything.
People spend money to overcome guilt by showing that they have made the effort. The spend money to escape their own self-image. The spend money to purchase illusions and hope. It is human nature to look for an easy solution without putting any sweat into it. Marketers take advantage of these weaknesses.
Pick a product that plays up to this weakness and you'll be a millionaire in six months with hard work. |
