I know my choices are very limited to restarants and that kind of stuff. I live in California, if that helps at all. I have a work permit. My hair is staying blue because I love it very dearly and I'm stubborn as hell. I know some people will be like "Change your hair blah blah blah" but I can't, for some very weird reasons that are hard to explain.
Additional Details
I guess I can try to explain my hair. Ever since I was maybe around 4, I've always felt that my hair should be blue. I didn't feel right with brown hair, it seemed so plain. So that's the reason why I'm attached to it. It's sort of a part of me that I can't change, not at the moment at least. |

First of all, be yourself! People might stare at you (who am I kidding, I probably would too) but that doesn't mean it's wrong.
Having said that, you are correct - you might find your choices somewhat limited because some managers will find that your level of self-expression is too much for him/her to consider; or the job itself might not consider that to be professional or appropriate.
I don't know about California, but here in PA, a lot of high-school and college kids can get hired for summer employment with the PA Department of Transportation (PennDOT). There's a program in place geared specifically to students. Ever see those folks at construction sites with the slow/stop signs? And while it's highly unlikely that you could get hired for PennDOT in California <heheh>, perhaps there would be a similar program in place.
Another suggestion is to go to places like Manpower or other temp services and see what they have available. Your state's employment office might also be able to help. |

It really all depends.
Just do a few walk-ins, and speak with the manager.
I'm curious as to what the reason is, why you can't change your hair style... but if you absolutely can't... you might run into a few problems..
But speaking with the manager of the building is a sure-fire way to determine job possibilities easily and quickly. Just avoid filling out millions of applications and speak with feature employers first. |

Not too many places will hire 14-year olds with any color of hair. Whatever the color of your hair, I'd suggest working at a summer camp , or if you have a good connection in an office where you could be a clerk, make copies, etc. Or, you could caddy if you live near a golf course. |
