physically: any mistreatment of their body (ie obesity, starvation, mutilation,) excessive acne, scarring, or disfigurement, sometimes too many freckles. to me physical features hold little weight over personality, but they tend to have influence when it's overtly noticeable.
emotionally: excessively weak, strong, or evil, sleeps around, whiny, b****y, or try to be something they aren't
there are other things i didn't include because they have to be seen for me to recall them for you. and being amazing in one trait may override being bad with another, as long as they balance out. |

Studies show that people we consider beautiful are Symetric. For example their ears are the same height, their eyes are the same distance from their straight nose, their smile is even, they have good posture ect.
This symetry requires literally "good genes", and at the unconscious level Ugly people have "weak" genes. Similar studies on "attractive" women had a specific hip-to-waiste ratio. Having a slightly smaller waist and larger hips correlates with fertilty...and men find that attractive at the unconscious level. |

There are different things that make a person ugly to others (for me personally, I agree, a bad personality is a high category). I was taught in a class once that physically, people are considered more attractive if their face is symmetrical. I think I learned that in psychology somewhere down the road. That's not to say that an asymmetrical person couldn't be beatiful, but on average, people rate symmetrical strangers more attractive. |
