What other British shops do you expect to go under?
On the news the other day, they said they expected another 10 high street shops to go bankrupt in the New Year. Which ones do you expect to go?

As has already been said, most of the electronic retailers will go under. They have already been doing badly for a while because of the amount of people buying cheap electronic goods online.

In terms of clothes shops, I think it will be the cheaper ones that go under, like Mark One. I don't think TopShop will do because they are already propped up considerably by the number of foreign people that come here and shop, or that import their stuff. Remember that in almost all foreign economies (except the US of course) things aren't as bad as they are here. I think shops like M&S and Next might go under if they don't keep up with the times, but they've got a decent chance of survival if they play their cards right. I think shops like JD Sports and JJB will be fine because they are mostly used by people on benefits, and those people still have the same amount of income that they always did.

I think book stores and CD/DVD stores will be fine as long as they adapt. They probably need less high street branches now as people do more shopping online, but they can still make the same amount of profit provided that they transition effectively.

I'd probably agree with those who have said that Homebase or B&Q could go. If people aren't buying houses, they don't need home improvement stores.

I hope that government will go to the rescue of those troubled shops instead of spending billions of pounds to bailout banks.Bank of England should also use other fiscal and monetary policies instead of cutting interest rates to its lowest in history.

Probably most, if not all of the Dixon Group, ie: Dixons, Currys, P C World. More than likely M & S, Top Shop and W H Smith.

Debenhams was mentioned as one of those shops and i think m&s will be luck to survive. Officers club as just so many of its shops brought out but 34 are due to close.
