Hi there,
Try reading books, listening to tapes, and conversing with friends who are very fluent in English.
It may sound ridiculous, but try watching English movies, listening to English songs, and reading novels if you want to learn English in the fun way. In this manner, you don't feel bored and feel that you are actually 'learning' something. Let me tell you, I top my class in English, but I never attend my lectures regularly. That's because I don't feel I need them. Most of my grammar is functional and not bookish. Whenever I come across a new word or new grammar usage, I consult my professors to clarify it. I don't even do any kind of homework to achieve my grades.
But I watch a lot of English movies and listen to a lot of English songs. This really worked in my case and hope it works in your case too.
Wishing you all the best. Bye!!

You are doing it! Your sentence was just fine. Keep on practicing.
You can probably see that the questions and answers in Yahoo Answers are of very different quality in terms of English grammar, punctuation, capitalization, and choice of vocabulary. Indeed, some of them are barely intelligible.
You can get a lot of new vocabulary words by reading for context. If you know most of the words in the sentence, try to guess what would fit before you look in the dictionary for the unknown word. Then when you do look it up, it will make more sense to you.
Do you have a good English dictionary? Not just one that translates to and from your native language, but an all-English one? If not, that would probably be a good investment. Also, read stories in English that were written a long time ago, when authors were more careful to be correct. A good way is to read stories which were originally written for older children. In the Victorian era, children were expected to have a good command of the language while they were still young enough to be protected from inappropriate language and too much sex or violence. Try authors like Frances Hodgson Burnett, Louisa May Alcott, and L. M. Montgomery. Many of their stories have been made into movies, so you could get a DVD and a "matching" book, and understand both better for it.
More recently, J. K. Rowling, author of the Harry Potter series, is a good choice. She has made up a lot of new words, and so that will be quite a challenge, but I think you will love the stories. The first four have been made into movies, so you could get some help reading them by seeing the movies, or just have a great deal of fun!
Good luck! |

You can find cd's/dvd's at a local library (free to rent) that may help you with your english. Or sign up for some classes somewhere. Make a good friend that could teach you as well. |
