rather than get upset with them, mess with them right back. Let them ramble on and on. When they finally finish ask them to hold on "just a second" because someone's at the door. Then sit the phone down and see how long they'll hold on before they finally give up. By doing this, you've wasted their valuable time and saved someone else from getting a phone call from them. These people generally use an auto dialing system that dials phone #'s for them. As soon as they disconnect from you, their computer dials another # and connects them to someone else. The longer you can keep them on your phone, the fewer phone calls they can make during the day. So let's say they normally make 500 calls a day. If everyone that got a call screwed with them and kept them on the phone for as long as possible, then they'd only be able to make 100 calls a day, thus saving 400 people from getting a call. Do this long enough, and it no longer becomes profitable to run this kind of business. So...if everyone would do their parts, telemarketers would cease to exist. |

I quite enjoy these telesales as a bit of light entertainment.
Sometimes I put on little quivery old lady voice and pretend to be deaf. Then I keep making them repeat every because I can't hear it or can't understand what they are trying to say/sell me. In the end, they usually finish the call and don't call back.
Other times, especially if it's a male caller, put on a sexy voice and keep trying to proposition him - that really frightens them off! |

when they call and start to chat just put the phone down without saying anything
or
leave them dangling on the phone line
or
tell them they have made an illegal phone call as your phone number is ex-directory, even if it's not
Register for free ,with TPS the telephone preference service in UK
It will cut out the majority of spam phone calls but maybe not them all

Why not join the "Telephone Preference Service" it works for me, I never have nuisance calls, ever!!!

This is what i used to do: Say "oh ok il just get the owner, wait two ticks"
Then just leave them on line having to pay for the call, they also wont be able to use the line because its still connected to you! |

You can contact a telephone preference service listed in the directory and have your phone number placed on a list to prevent cold calling...it is then an offence if they call you.....unless they say it is for market research. |

Hang up and keep finding insignificant problems to whine about. Same goes for everyone else who complains about phone calls, the weather, tree colors, plane food or the smell of pig manure when visiting pig farms. |
