What to do about this work colleague!???
Basically, this guy in our factory keeps pretending to 'be' the bakers van, at break times he goes around singing this daft song 'i am the bakers van (at break), i am the bakers van (at break) i am iam i am...' and so on....and pretending to 'drive' around the place making van noises.
It has caused some members of staff to sit their cars for break instead of the tea room.

zzz still awake zzz
live and let live , annoying as it may be. or buy an ipod.

oh thats so funny i work in factory to and im just trying to imagine someone doing that. Ha Ha.
If it doesnt bother you id say dont do anything but if it does you should have a quiet word in both his ear and your supervisors ear.
He might just be a jolly happy person trying to cheer up break times with a bit of fun? We all need a bit of fun in our lives!!!

All of you ll start bugging him by singing " Here comes the Bakers Van " Bug the guy by asking all the staff members to sing and irritate where ever they see him and probably the best idea would be all you staff joining together and bugging him

This should stop him from irritating anyone !!!!!!!!! :-)

Dont get the q!!! It seems hes a bit of a nuisense just tell him to shut up!!

Wow, he does sound annoying. It also sounds to me like this guy's trying to get attention. I think you should talk with him; ask him what's going on with him and why is he always acting like that? He may not realize how he appears to his coworkers.
I've worked with several people over the years who have behaved in a similar manner-they just couldn't seem to relax and fit in with people and be themselves. They thought they had to constantly talk or joke it up and a lot of times they behaved like an idiot because they were socially awkward-they didn't know how to behave without going overboard on the talking or the joking. They trying too hard to be funny or accepted. That can be very irritating after a short period of time. But we just kind of dealt with it while trying to make them feel accepted, but while vocally, and politely, discouraging their obnoxious behaviour at the same time. We'd invite the person to sit with us at lunch, or even go out to lunch with the gang. In other words, we'd give them a chance to get to know us (and us to know them) without them always feeling like they had to act up to get our attention. There have been a few people who have been reported to the bosses (only after trying to talk and deal with them for fair amount of time) because they were so disruptive. Most of them settled down and eventually became just 'another' member of the office gang (no longer 'the obnoxious' member). A couple of them were let go because it turns out they were just plain obnoxious and not interested in whether they were being disruptive to others. They were too disruptive and couldn't settle down and were constantly causing problems-too many employees were complaining about them.

ring the men in white coats, hes a nutter.
or report him to a manager, he may be cracking up due to stress.

KrimSun
Wow, that's uh.... unique.

I dunno man, beating around the bush might just be a waste of time. You might just wanna approach the guy discreetly and ask him what's up with that song he sings during lunch.

Then tell him that you think he might be going overboard with it, and that you've noticed that people might not wanna hear it considering they're not taking their break in the room.

Don't be a jerk about it.... unless you want to be. That's your call. I think unless this guy is nuts, he'll get the idea as long as you're upfront and cool about it.

"I know a song that'll get on your nerves, get on your nerves etc etc"
Seriously, tell him it does get on your nerves and that nobody finds it even slightly entertaining.......
Then hope and pray to God he doesn't trade the bakers van for an icecream van. Those jingles will be worse!!

Nicole
Hahahahahaha!!!!!

I say you should all sing & fake drive with him.

If you can't beat him, join him.

Maximus
That is cringe worthy just reading about his behaviour! Causing direct offence is unlikely to work. Maybe members of staff could just outright ignore him, or just have his superior have a quiet word with him -

"enough with the bakers van already, this is a business, not a fricking nursery school ! "

I also thought you could film his stupidity and put it on youtube, thus causing some embarrassment to him, but on second thoughts this could inspire a legion of morons to do the same... no, dont film it and put it on youtube!
