What will happen if I fail to pay mobile phone bill?
I got around 1466 pounds mobile phone bill recently coz someone steal my simcard and I only found out when the bill is already that much. Clearly, I cannot afford this huge bill, if I will not pay this, what will happen to me?

you need to report this to your phone company and police and see what you need to do next.

Report the theft. If the bill's unpaid, you'll be cut off, and still pursued for the unpaid bill.

how much is 1466 pounds in American dollars???? I think you need to talk to the phone company. And get a phone that doesnt have a sim card. Like my Verizon doesnt but my friends Cingular does.

You will get new number soon.

You need to report the theft to your phone company and the police. You'll probably lose your service until the problem is resolved.

Hello,

(ANS) Mobile phone theft is a very very common crime, so I would imagine that the more evidence or real proof you can provide the phone company. That this bill wasn't genuinely run up by yourself the stronger your case will be should the phone (telco) company decide to take you to court or perhaps pass the debit to a debit recovery company.

**If you informed the phone company immediately that your phone had been stolen. Or if you informed them as soon as you discovered the theft. Then this would definitely be points in your favour, however if you failed to do this then your case begins to look much weaker.

**Did you contact the police immediately when the phone was stolen? Again this is important.

**If the phone was reported stolen to both the police & phone company you have a stronger position than if you didn't.

**Phones that are reported stolen generally have a stop put on them ASAP, or are blacklisted and have the connected blocked. So the sim-card or phone number cannot be used further, hence preventing further debit or abusive use.

**With good eveidence or proof the debit MAY? be written off but if you dont have any proof then the debit could be passed to a debit recovery company.

**This has the potential to affect your credit rating & credit history too.

basically the police will get involved.
but before they do.. go and tell them first.
obviously that will be classed as theft.. but you might still have to pay some of it unfortunatly.
Unless they find the person who stole the simcard.

but go to the police about it before they come to you!

Good luck.!

if you have insurance that will cover it, i think it covers up to £2000 of calls if your phone is stolen i no mine does. hope this helps.

Well, for certain, they will inform credit reference agencys -- without doubt. That poor man who owns phones4u is down to his last £8bn -- he need it !!!

You will be cut off - if you are not already. Then the phone company will pass the information onto debt recovery people.
You will eventually be taken to court and orded to pay the money. You will have a CCJ against your name and will not be able to get credit again.
You may have a baliff turn up at your door and take your goods.
I would try and work out a monthly/weekly payment scheme with the company

Marky
The mobile phone company will write it off assuming that you can demonstrate it wasn't you.
