Before answering that question, we must first assume that the company is in a form of a CORPORATION and not a PARTNERSHIP.
In a corporation, this is the basic corporate hierarchy:
Topmost: BOARD OF DIRECTORS- These are usually the people who owns most of the funds used in the company called "STOCKS". In conclusion, they have the final decision on the things around them.
2nd: Chairman of the Board - This person reports directly to the board of directors, like a reporter...
3rd: CEO (Chief Executive Officer) - its the another name for the "PRESIDENT". This person is in-charge of the overall performance of the company.
4th: Vice-Presidents: These people have their specific duties. There's one in finance, one in markting, one in human resources, one in production, etc......
....below them are the middle managers...

Yep - managers of most companies in the UK are managing directors - unless, you are in a local authority and its different, in charge of a local council is normally a chief executive, and below them are normally directors or something like that.

In a corporation, you have several positions. The President of the company oversees the company itself, but being incorporated, they also may have a BOARD of DIRECTORS. The CHairman of the Board of directors may oversee the President and his staff. Along with the President, such companies would also have Vice Presidents of different divisions. In addition, many companies have Chief Executive Officers (CEO) and Cheif Operating Officers( COO) and CHief FINANCIAL officers (CFO) . In offices which are privately owned, you would have the Owner, but also possible Partners. Law firms are famous for having many Partners who share in the total profits.
In other countries, they have different names for such things. Most companies have a Managing Director rather than President. |
