Hey
I think you should start small and build you way up. So buy a few plain t-shirts and paint then with different designs. You can get these things from shops that allow you to copy a photograph and print in onto a t-shirt. I have tried them and they work brilliantly. We sold t shirt to raise money for charity. What i did was get loads of different photos off the internet (ranging from puppies to rock stars) and followed the instruction on the packet and put them on the t-shirts. Those t-shirts sold like hot cakes.
Basically make a few and see how it goes. Also ask people if they want personalized ones and then take it from there. Please don't buy loads until you know that a certain design is selling well.

Go to a laundromat, snag as many plain white t-shirts you can, go home and steal your bothers and or sisters magic markers and learn how to draw or write some clever stuff on the t-shirts.
No out of pocket expenses, and all profit!! |

The cheapist way is to buy the press on t-shirt paper from say walmart. T-shirts are also cheap from wal-mart. You can then use a computer with regular inkjet ink in it to print on the press on paper. Then use and iron to press your image onto the shirt. I would advertise in your local service directory in your newspaper. After you have gotten some money for your sales, you will need to purchase a press, I would look on craigslist or ebay for a minimum size of 17 x 20 inches. New the run a little over 1000.00. We use Epson 1280's for our printing currently, you can purchase ink cheap through any of the refillers that are on line. Good luck! Mel

You don't. 99% of all teenager-based businesses fail. Why? It's because you don't know how to handle money, (which you won't have enough of), conduct transactions, place good ads, etc. Plus, your shirts will suck. There's already a million T-shirt businesses who were run by people older than you, smarter than you, and possessing a command of the apostrophe, who have made T-shirt businesses and failed.
You're better off coming up with a more original type of business, instead of something that's been done to death. |
