apparently, panhandlers make a ton, if they do a good job of looking desparate.
but, for something a little more respectable, seems like you need to hustle a little (in a good way). Is there someplace near you where tourists go? I'm thinking selling ice cold soda near a beach or trainstation or something. Meanwhile, keep your eye out for trendy things like fake crowns for the queens birthday or something.
don't invest much in an idea, only do things that if they fail, you don't lose much (that's why i suggest "buy a case of soda" instead of "buy a bunch of lemons, a squeezer, sugar, blah blah which is too much trouble, we're hustling here)
learn something that tourists are interested in and while you are selling them the cola, talk up interesting facts, make a deal with a restaurant that if you send people you get a cut, and start sending people. be creative.
You want to be johnny-on-the-spot with what people need, you don't want to be competing with other people, and once you get somebody's attention, try to milk it for more.
Don't rip people off, this is all legit. People on vacation are happy to give you money for taking care of them, they have limited time, they don't want to waste it, help them pack more into their day. |
